Present with Authority

Social anxiety and fear of public speaking affect a surprising number of people

Glossophobia (fear of public speaking) is the single biggest fear in humans. There’s nothing worse than the anxiety felt before having to give a speech. If you have to make a presentation and you feel nervous, we can help. We teach you strategies in a safe space to calm your nerves, how hold the space with authority, take the audience on a memorable journey and speak with confidence and charisma.

Most professionals have to offer opinions, be spontaneously creative or present information to their colleagues or clients.

This can be impacted negatively by:

  • Limited training

  • Lack of confidence

  • Poor self-belief

  • Lack of experience

A poor performance can lead to:

  • Further destabilisation of self-belief

  • A drop in respect among co-workers

  • A lack of reassurance for clients

  • A lower sense of job satisfaction

Useful whether you meet colleagues and clients on Zoom or in a shared location.

Process

  • You’ll practise improv exercises that lead directly to greater confidence

  • You’ll practise a range of techniques to use before and during presentations

Benefits

  • You’ll feel more comfortable and in control when in groups or one-to-ones

  • You’ll find it easier to access your natural charisma

  • You’ll speak with greater authority when making a point

  • You’ll command the room more successfully

Not everyone is born to speak with authority. Everyone can learn to enjoy it more.

Testimonials

Victoria created a fun, out-of-the-box series of experiential workshops for our MSc Management students to explore and develop their presentation skills leveraging her improv and performative experience. Vic was very skilful in creating a safe space for students to try out new approaches and engage in a powerful learning journey. Surrey Business School is enthusiastic in bringing in high quality industry practitioners to augment the range and depth of pedagogic experiences for their students, and we’re delighted Vic Hogg has joined our associate network.

I had a great time this weekend and really enjoyed all the fun we had on the Presentations course. Something I’ll be taking away is the importance of generosity, which I think you modelled so well and filled the entire course with. Thank you.
— Dr Francesca Paschek, Lecturer University of Greenwich

The sessions really helped boost my creative thinking and interpersonal confidence under pressure. Coming from an analytical background and job, these were skills I needed to consciously develop. Those skills have since been super-useful to run teams, deal with difficult situations and, ultimately, progress further in my career. I don’t get fazed by much at work anymore!
